Aortopulmonary window device closure : Gujarat’s youngest child

Aortopulmonary window is a septation defect between the ascending aorta and main pulmonary artery. It is a rare defect that accounts for around 0.1% of all congenital heart diseases.

Aortopulmonary window is traditionally treated by surgery, however there are a few reports of transcatheter AP window closure.

A 15 months old child weighing just 6.5 kg with history of recurrent respiratory infections and inability to gain weight was treated with transcatheter therapy. He is also one of the youngest in the state to undergo transcatheter intervention for AP window. He was discharged the next day after an uneventful AP window device closure.
